[in English]
Sinterklaas is the Dutch version of Santa Claus. The Sinterklaas feast celebrates the name day of Saint Nicholas, a 4th Century bishop from Myra, Turkey. On the evening of the 5th of December or in the early morning of the 6th of December, he brings presents to little children, assisted by Zwarte Pieten and his horse. The Sinterklaas celebration also involves putting your shoe near the chimney and eating pfeffernuesse.
