The International Physicists' Tournament, or IPT, is a competition between teams of bachelor and master students from all over the world. Their objective is to solve in advance small scientific problems (e.g. why do screws loosen when they are vibrated, how much energy can we get from a one square meter greenhouse, or how to design a ship able to move on an ocean of a ferromagnetic fluid using magnets) then present and defend their solutions in front of the other participants and a panel of jury members. The competition gives the participants the chance to experience the world of modern day-to-day science by having them approach the problems with creativity, while at the same time justify their scientific choices and methodology and fiercely defend their ideas.
